Authors Update : Wade Ferris Chronicles Shadow Warrior :Absolution (Book 3)

For those of you who know me, you will know by now that I don't spend a lot of time on social media sites.  I do however like to know what friends are doing and how they are progressing with their own projects.  For this reason, I felt it was about time I shared some progress of my own.

2016 was a year of missed self imposed deadlines.  Shadow Warrior: Retribution  went live in May, four months past its deadline.of January.  I started the third book in the series a few months after Retribution's release. and finally got to finish it in July 2017.

 

Shadow Warrior: Absolution was a huge undertaking for me, and quickly grew as the story took shape. The first draft was finished in July 2017 and came in a 210,000 plus words, which was my biggest effort yet.  I sat and stared at it for a month or so, hardly daring to touch it.  Finally, I got up enough courage to begin editing; which for those of you who have never done it before, it's no easy task. It's like dissecting  one of your own kids.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I trimmed off a little of the fat and got it down to 195,000 words give or take a few hundred words.  I released it on December 29  on AMAZON and KINDLE UNLIMITED.  A print version of  Shadow Warrior Absolution will be available in June 2018.

Authors Insight

As a writer, there are certain things I feel you need to have a firm grip on.   I'm not sure if others will agree with me but I will share them with you now.

My 3 rules for writing. They are simple and basic.

Rule 1/
What would your character naturally do or say in this situation?
(Nothing annoys a reader more than flowery speech.. No-one talks like that!)

Rule 2/
How can I make things worse?
(You don't need predictable in your story. Keep your readers entertained and wanting more.)

Rule 3/
How can I end this in such a way that it's unexpected but still inevitable?
(Find the twists, introduce sub plots. Give your readers more than they bargained for. What you had planned for the climax may not be the way it ends. Don't forget to resolve all sub plots before the end of the story.)

A couple of people have asked me privately what i meant by the term I used ... feel the words.

I will attempt to explain what i meant as clearly as i can. Please bear in mind though that this is only my opinion for what it's worth, although i do hope other authors are of the same opinion.

When you are writing your story, it should be playing in your head like a movie. The author should see the scene unfolding as he or she writes. Feel what the words are saying. Feel the emotions, the tension or just a desert breeze blowing. If you can't see it and feel it, there is something wrong with it. It means too that your readers won't see or feel your story. None of us want that! Go back as far as you need to, rewrite or rearrange things so the movie plays for you.

Don't be in a hurry to get your book out. Your readers and fans deserve the best you can offer them.

SHADOW WARRIOR  RETRIBUTION

is the second book in the Wade Ferris Chronicles.   

It’s a love story set in the violence and turmoil of an invasion by Alien beings. Corrupt government officials and violent gangs, all of them wanting their share of the spoils. Amidst the sexual tension, and personal conflict, they know that they to put their feelings aside and do what needs to be done before it is too late. Failure to accomplish their goals will only result in death, not only for themselves but for every living thing on the planet.
Carline and Ferris had dealt the Invaders a major setback by blowing up one of the antennas and destroying their equipment. Forced now to move away from the beach area of Waikanae, they moved inland towards the center of town with the goal of locating a transmitter they could use to contact the military and pass on what information they had gathered about the Invaders.
Little did they know, that the collaboration of the gangs was just the tip of the iceberg, and ran a lot deeper than they could ever imagine.
. After helping two women escape from their attackers, they take Carline and Ferris to a building they consider safe, but things are not as they seem. The building holds its own secrets, as do the two women they just rescued.
Ginny and Carmella join forces with Ferris and Carline after they discover what each other is trying to do. Close relationships between the four of them quickly develop with each of them knowing they might not survive for much longer. The four of them set out to rid Ginny’s mysterious Green Mountain of the gang members and the Invaders. Their mission is to find out what is there the invaders want and why.
Other eyes are watching them as well, those of the supernatural world that have charged them with the return of a sacred object supposedly hidden within Green Mountain.

Wade Ferris Chronicles SHADOW WARRIOR Book One

 Wade Ferris Chronicles SHADOW WARRIOR Book One has taken a long time to get here. Now the first book is actually done and out in Kindle, Nook  Kobo and iBook formats. . There are no plans for a paper back edition at this time, but that's not out of the question just yet.

I'm currently working on the second book, which should be the conclusion of this story. Shadow Warrior Book Two should be out in December, if the writing gods allow me to finish on time.

I know more than a few of you are asking . . . well all of you are asking "Who the hell is this guy?"

Wade Ferris had given up his life of fighting for others, or so he thought. Content to run the small motel he had bought with the money he had earned in the beach front area of Waikanae.  The quiet life suited him, especially in the winter when there were little or no Guests to worry about.

This night was no different than any other winters night. It was raining hard and the sound of the breakers hitting the beach made everything seem normal. Tonight wasn’t going to be like every other night though, It was going to be the first night in a series of events that would drag himself as well as his close friend Dan Carline into a fight for survival against a force of extraterrestrial invaders that had plans to colonize his world.

They would be happy to have left the entire task to the New Zealand Defense Forces, but circumstances forced them both out of retirement to wage a private war against the invaders while what remained of the military tried to reorganize themselves after being devastated by Pearl harbor styled attacks in the initial first hours of the invaders arriving.

Trained in guerrilla style warfare, both Ferris and Carline felt right at home hitting at the invading force, then backing away, only to return and strike again. With each successive strike, they learned more about the Aliens capabilities, their strengths and their weaknesses.  Gathering this information and using it to strike harder and harass the Invaders.

They knew that what they had learned about the invaders, had to passed on to the military. Finding a way to do that bought them a new set of problems, in the form of the local outcasts and  local gangs. They had formed an uneasy alliance with the invaders, who had promised them power and wealth, in return for their help in exterminating any resistance.

As you take this adventure with Wade Ferris and Dan Carline you'll be swept away in this war against these two good friends versus aliens.

I laughed, I was sadden by some events, I even was angry and wanted to beat these aliens at their game.
The details that W.M. Clarke painted into your mind made me feel like I was living the life's of these men as they traveled to the different cities to help save themselves and the survivors from these visitors. there is so much action and excitement I didn't want to put it down and often fell asleep reading it only to wake up wanting more. This is a book i will read again and again. I'm really looking forward to reading more about Wade Ferris, Dan Carline, Carmella and Janine Trasco AKA Ginny in book 2 of this exciting series.
